Recruitment of Independent Chair
Lord Laming’s recent progress report into ‘The Protection of Children in England’ highlights the need for rigour and greater independence in managing local safeguarding arrangements. His focus upon the purpose, remit and accountability of LSBs also raises questions about how they balance the need to scrutinise and challenge while ensuring that all multi-agency partners work effectively and cohesively across the local area.
